Anybody who has experienced the heartbreak and anxiety of a lame horse knows all too well that the foundation of a horse is based upon healthy hooves and limbs. The ability to manipulate the horses hoof health through proper farrier science has been known for centuries. Since time of the Greeks, horses have been shod. Proper trimming and shoeing has always been considered paramount to a horse’s health. In that regard, I have dedicated my life in the pursuit of this venture.
A horse’s optimum performance is based upon soundness. The ability of the horse to change gates and speeds while carrying a rider, saddle, and bridle is predicated upon proper hooves, limbs, and back. By balancing the hoof a farrier is able to adjust tendon, ligament and articulating surfaces of the joint. This will ensure a horse has every advantage in his everyday work.
The horse if sound will enjoy his work. His mental and physical attributes are enhanced. The safety of the rider and the horse is dependent on these capabilities. I am able to assess the gate and way of going of horse and rider. The many disciplines of performance whether sport horse, eventer, or trail horse will depend upon personalized confirmation and ability, as well as age. The many facets of farrier science help the farrier to make proper determinations as to how to shoe the horse. To this end, I believe that proper and consistent shoeing and trimming is paramount to your horse’s health.
The old saying, “no foot, no horse,” is true. Since hoof conditions are dynamic and not static, it is vital to be able to assess the physiology of the hoof at the time of shoeing, while forecasting the stress placed upon the hoof capsule over the next shoeing cycle. This will ensure the horse’s hoof health will continue to improve and not decline.
